Winter Geocaching Events

January 24, 2pm - Sicamous Snow Days Geocaching Social
Geocaching is a worldwide activity where participants use GPS technology to discover new places and find hidden treasures. Come to Finlayson Park (Larch Avenue Parking Lot) to learn how it works. Shuswap GeoQuest is hosting a hands-on workshop to give beginners an opportunity to try geocaching. We will have GPS units available for all participants to use to navigate to the coordinates where geocache containers are hidden. Some of the containers will contain toy medals. There will be a variety of practice geocaches of different sizes and difficulty starting from very easy progressing to more challenging. After the practice session a group will go on a geocaching trip to find other geocaches in the area. The afternoon will wrap up with a social gathering.

February 21 - Winter Games - Get Out There FREE!
12-3pm at Sunwave Centre and SASCU Recreation Centre. Free ice skating, swimming, games, Wii tournament, and more. Community BBQ by donation Shuswap GeoQuest is hosting a hands-on workshop to give beginners an opportunity to try geocaching. We will have GPS units available for participants to use to navigate to coordinates where geocache containers are hidden. Some of the containers will contain toy medals to get into the Olympic spirit. There will be a variety of practice geocaches of different sizes and difficulty starting from very easy progressing to more challenging. The FREE workshops will be held at 12:00, 1:00 and 2:00pm. 2010 Shuswap GeoQuest Calendar

The 2010 Shuswap GeoQuest Calendar features a new geocache each month which contain full-colour stickers of photos from around the Shuswap (not of the cache location). We are looking for geocachers to create a cache of the month. Contact us if you would like to have a cache hide recognized as the cache of the month. We can provide assistance, advice, materials and more. Each cache will be published during the corresponding month.
