The CSRD and Community Futures - Shuswap have signed a memorandum of understanding to create sustainability for the Shuswap GeoQuest project
and to work in collaboration with Shuswap Tourism on tourism marketing initiatives.
Shuswap GeoQuest project coordinator, James Gjaltema, is now based at the Shuswap Tourism Office.

Cache of the Month
The February cache for the 2010 Shuswap GeoQuest Calendar has been submitted and should be on-line at geocaching.com very soon

Note: The stickers found in the caches feature photos from around the Shuswap not of the cache location.
We are still looking for geocachers to create a caches that will be recognized as the cache of the month.
We can provide assistance, advice, materials and more. Each cache will be published during the corresponding month and announced in this newsletter.

Feb 21 12-4pm, SASCU Recreation Centre & Sunwave Centre. Free iceskating, swimming, Wii games, BBQ by donation. FREE hands-on beginner geocaching workshop, GPS units free to use. Navigate to coordinates of hidden geocache containers. Get out & try it! 12, 1, and 2pm
Interior Geocachers - GeoStomp 2010
Interior Geocachers first event was GeoStomp Out Winter in 2009. This year, the second annual Stomp will be on Mar. 20.
to celebrate the first day of spring.
The schedule includes:
9:00 - coffee, meet n' greet, and a chance to form teams for a day of caching. New cachers will be matched with experienced cachers, wherever possible.
9:30 Receive cache listings/GPX files
9:45 - 4:00 - A day of caching.
4:00 Meet at the listed coordinates
4:30 - FTF prizes, door prizes, shared tales, and the details of a follow-up contest for the best cache logs and the best photos posted to the cache listings.
Twenty new caches are planned for this year's Stomp. Donated prizes will be accepted at the door for those wishing to donate/support the event.

We have purchased 18 GPS bundles at half price! We opted for the versatile Garmin eTrex Venture HC package. As we are buying in quantity, Canadian Tire is giving us excellent discounts.
Discounts are available for anyone who wants to order a new GPS when we put in a bulk order.
Several accommodation providers have expressed interest in buying a GPS to have for guests to use.
